Physics in Aircrafts Essay - 682 Words
Physics in Aircrafts All you need to know about the role physics plays in the flight of an aircraft. Introduction Many people are amazed with the flight of an object, especially one the size of an airplane, but they do not realize how much physics plays a role in this amazing incident. There are many different ways in which physics aids the flight of an aircraft. In the following few paragraphs some of the many ways will be described so that you, the reader, will realize physics at work in the world of flight. Principles of Flight First of all you will have to understand the principles of flight. An airplane flies because air moving over and under its surfaces, particularly its wings, travels at different velocities, producing aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This principle also covers the flow over surfaces, such as airplane wings. Airplane wings are designed to direct air to flow more rapidly over its upper surface than over its lower surface. As a result, the air above the wing travels at an increased speed, producing a region of reduced pressure. The pressure below the wing, which is therefore greater, exerts an upward force, or lift, on the wing. Lift Lift is the third factor in which physics aids the flight of an aircraft. Lift is influenced by a variety of different things, such as area, tilt of the wing, and on the speed of the aircraft. Wing area influences lift; the more of the wing that is exposed to the air, the greater the lift. The up or down tilt of the wing, usually called its angle of attack, contributes to or detracts from lift. As a wing is tilted upward, that is, as its angle of attack is increased, its lift increases. The air passing over the top of an uptilted wing must travel a greater distance and thus produces a greater pressure differential between the upper and lower surfaces. Airplane speed has a great influence on lift. The faster the air moves over and under the surfaces of an airplane, the greater the pressure differential and, as a result, the greater the lift. As an airplane flies on a level course, the lift contributed by the wing and other parts of the structure counterbalance the weight of the plane. Within certain limits, if the angle of attack isShow MoreRelatedPavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov and the Cherenkov Effect1078 Words à |à 4 PagesThe 1958 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Pavel Alekseyevich Cherenkov, Ilya Frank and Igor Tamm for the discovery and the interpretation of the Cherenkov Effect. Goods and Service Tax
Questions: 1. Alan is aReferencesn employee at ABC Pty Ltd (ABC). He has negotiated the following remuneration package with ABC: salary of $300,000; payment of Alan's mobile phone bill ($220 per month, including GST). Alan is under a two-year contract whereby he is required to pay a fixed sum each month for unlimited usage of his phone. Alan uses the phone for work-related purposes only; Payment of Alan's children's school fees ($20,000 per year). The school fees are GST free. ABC also provided Alan with the latest mobile phone handset, which cost $2,000 (including GST). At the end of the year ABC hosted a dinner at a local Thai restaurant for all 20 employees and their partners. The total cost of the dinner was $6,600 including GST. (a) Advise ABC of its FBT consequences arising out of the above information, including calculation of any FBT liability, for the year ending 31 March 2015. Assume that ABC would be entitled to input tax credits in relation to any GST-inclusive acquisitions. (b) How would your answer to (a) differ if ABC only had 5 employees? (c) How would your answer to (a) differ if clients of ABC also attended the end-of-year dinner? 2. Rubber Co manufactures tennis balls. On 1 January 2010, Rubber Co purchased a new machine for $1.1m (inclusive of GST) which it used to produce the tin cans in which its tennis balls were placed for sale to retailers. At the time of acquiring the machine , Rubber Co estimated that the machine would have an effective life of 10 years before it needed to be replaced. Subsequently, on 1 January 2014, as a result of new technology, a better quality machine became available and Rubber Co decided to sell the original machine for $330,000 (inclusive of GST) and purchase a new machine for $2.2m (inclusive of GST). Requirement: What are the tax consequences of these arrangements under Div 40ITAA97? Answers: (1). According to the GST act, a taxpayer is liable for the GST on the supplies made that is equal to an eleventh of the amount receives when they make taxable supplies. The amount of the liability on a taxable supply is not to be included in the assessable income of the taxpayer. However, a GST amount on the sales made regarding the depreciating assets are not inclusive as a part of the sales made (Ingles, 2001). All the creditable acquisitions according to the GST act are accompanied with input tax credits on the acquisition. The input tax credit amounts to an eleventh of the paid amount under the acquisition. In the process of determining the length of the creditable purpose for the people working the sum of the amount of the credit of the employer, the employees perspective is the relevant factor (Deeming, 2013). It is however noted that the tax credit that is obtained on a credible acquisition is not applicable in the deductions. Thus, the input tax credit on the acquisition of the d epreciating asset is as well not applicable. In this case the FTB would be calculated as; (a) (300,000+20000) = 32,000; taxable value 32,000*1.9608 = 63745.6 GST free (220*12) + 20000 + 6,600 = 29240; GST credit 29240*2.1463 = 627570812; gross taxable value 62757.812+63745.6 = 126503.412; total fringe benefits taxable amounts 126503.412*0.49 = 61986.67; total FTB payable (b) If ABC has five employees (300,000+20000) = 32,000; taxable value 32,000*1.9608 = 63745.6 GST free (220*12) + 20000 + 1650 = 24290; GST credit 24290*2.1463 = 52133.627; gross taxable value 52133.627+63745.6 = 115879.25; total fringe benefits taxable amounts 115879.25*0.49 = 56780.83; total FTB payable (C) if the clients to ABC were to attend the function, the GST credit would be higher then the experienced as the company would have to cater for their expense that would be inclusive of the GST. (2). The government of Australia has been seen to plan to bar the operations according to section 51AD to the arrangements that came before the 1st of July 2003. They came to be replaced by income tax assessment act as per division 250 that had proposed provisions to tax the proceeds of the lease and other arrangements where the assets by the tax preferred entities were used. Division 250 aims to deny the deductions of the capital allowance that are possibly to be claimed by a taxpayer in such cases where the entities of a tax payer lacked the predominance economic interest instead, the arrangements are to be regarded as a loan and taxed the same way as a financial case on an accrual basis (Apps Rees, 2010). According to the taxation laws in Australia, the general principal governing the income tax stands to be exclusive. It declares that for a person to be eligible to claim deductions for the expenses related to asset ownership, the owner has to prove that the asset is for the production of assessable income. The government thus notes that the arrangements as in the case have been put to practice to circumvent the principle (Kalb, Kew Scutella, 2005). In such arrangements, section 51AD is seen to stand out denying a taxpayer the capital deductions in the cases where they financed and purchased assets while they are using the non-recourse debt applying close to fifty percent of the buying price. The operations of the provision by this section appear to have been avoided by the arrangements not involving the non-recourse debt. Division 16D as well appears to be denying the taxpayers some capital allowance deductions in the cases as in the arrangements. In cases where thus division is app licable, section 51AD is net applicable and the opposite. Personality and Personality Types
It is through personality that we are in the position to define an individual. Personality types on the other hand are the mode in which we study an individual through their psychology and classify them according to the groups in which they fit. Through personality, we are able to identify and know individuals, how they think and their way of acting. Personality types should not at any cost be confused with personality traits given that it is a wider term than the latter.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Personality and Personality Types specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More While personality types are qualitative in nature, personality trait focuses much on the quantitative aspects. We can at times categorize individuals as introverts or extroverts while traits will handle them as either introversion or extroversion and argues they are dynamic in nature (Edelstein, 2006). There are several personality types of and the se are generally arrived at according to the assessments by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) which is a psychometric test questionnaire employed in measuring peopleââ¬â¢s perception and how they view their surroundings (Edelstein, 2006). The assessment mode borrows heavily from the typological theories in their assessments; it is designed to fully understand the theory. Personality type theory therefore as defined by Jung identifies two major cognitive operations that is rationality which revolves around thinking and feelings vs. irrationality which are perceiving in nature handling senses and intuitions (Kroeger, Thuesen Rutledge, 2002). These functions were later developed to help identify personalities as either introverts or extroverts. Since personality, types have been disintegrated further into many other types among which we have; the duty fulfiller, such person is very serious and often quiet with much interest in security and peace. Such a person can surely be de pended upon due to their high sense of responsibility and hardworking. We also have the mechanic type of person, such a person often quiet and reserved, their interest is mostly swayed on trying to know how things work in a given way and why such is the case. We also have the idealist personality, this person is reflective and has the urge to serve humanity to the fullest, within the value systems developed, and they always make efforts to stay within them. The other person is the scientist; a scientist is an individual much independent in thinking and always original in their ideas, which are creative and analytical. They are theory transformers into effective plans of action (Kroeger, Thuesen Rutledge, 2002). In the human functions and organizations, it is prudent to understand each individual in their personalities so that effectiveness can be realized in motivation at work places, effective management and communication functions as well as fostered relationships between the sub jects and those they intend to serve (Northouse, 2007). The level at which we understand personality will always help in unlocking a variety of human functions like leadership and even motivation.Advertising Looking for essay on psychology? The management of individuals is very important since it will define who the leader becomes and who is lead in any form of organized groupings. Personality theories, types and tests are quite applicable in the management of institutions, recruitment of workforce and selection (Kroeger, Thuesen Rutledge, 2002). It also helps to define training needs of any organization. Studies of personality and personality types are therefore vital and must be given a chance for prosperity in our societies. Managing strategic performance Virtual teams in organizations consist of a pool of professionals constituted and working remotely in several locations. The locations may be at the comfort of their homes, co-working offices or the branch offices of large organizations. Irrespective of where an individual works or is stationed, they are normally in the same team and they operate towards the same objectives and aims of the organization. Through modern technology, the members of the virtual teams always collaborate and work as a group/team from wherever they are located, they operate on the same plat form through the application of most modern technology such as web conferencing and instant messaging, Skype and online management software are employed (Gibson Cohen, 2003). Virtual teams across the world have the following general characteristics, which enhance their functions. Executive support; this is a situation where the management is given the role of supporting relation ships to help build trust. Secondly, virtual teams experience effective HR functions, which entail frequent training of staff. The teams are highly structured; this is because virtual teams are mostly successful when the right people are selected. The best workforce for a virtual team performance is a person who is self-reliant and independent in their work and self motivated. The other characteristic is that virtual team organizations have very strong team leaders to steer their roles and functions. Strong leaders are necessary because there are no face-to-face meetings and interaction hence it is hard to build the required trust (Gignac, 2005). Through virtual teams, companies have been in the position of deriving many benefits, which range from cheap salaries and less overhead costs (Gibson Cohen, 2003). Overhead costs are reduced since the company does not need to pay for office space and packing for some of its employees. The company is also in the position of attracting the b est employees since there is no bureaucracy in getting the employees; they as well have a diverse pool to choose. Other benefits include improved communication, facilitated coordination, increased working time hence an improvement in productivity.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Personality and Personality Types specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Diversity and cultural enrichment is a benefit, alongside this, research is facilitated (Gignac, 2005). Virtual teams also have set backs despite having many pros. Some of the demerits include; the method requires new skills from their employees hence more costs in form of trainings and retraining frequently. Organizations trying to adopt this form of operations in their organization face a challenge of difficulty to integrate this culture. It is as well extremely difficult to track the efforts made by its employees hence a difficulty in measuring output; this may fuel wa stage and inefficiency in terms of labor force performance (Zofi, 2012). Lastly, benefits that are accrued from face to face operations are lacking since individuals are working from several location. To effectively facilitate the performance of virtual teams by management, the organization should invest heavily in modern technology among other strategies. Moreover, such technology will facilitate the use of instant messaging to enhance a sense of presence; use of Skype must be embraced while increasing the interval of verbal check-ins. Every employee should be posted online and use of virtual telephone system should be embraced. In addition, the leadership and management should develop a program that will bring the employees to meet at a central physical location occasionally (Zofi, 2012). Why Youre Not Getting Paid More Money
Why Youre Not Getting Paid More Money Employers love to be vague about the salary theyââ¬â¢re prepared to offer for any given position. Youââ¬â¢ll often see ââ¬Å"Commensurate with Experienceâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Dependent on Experience,â⬠or other similar wordings. Basically, what youââ¬â¢re offered will depend on where you came from and what youââ¬â¢ve worked on. You may look at such a job posting and count up all your innumerable years of experience and think: gee, I have a ton of experience. Iââ¬â¢m going to make bank. But the calculations can be on the fickle side.Experience âⰠYears WorkedThe major takeaway is this: the salary such an employer is prepared to offer you will depend upon a range of factors- including but not limited to your experience. Even if the job description asks for a specific number of years experience in a specific role, if you have more- or more targeted- experience, you might be eligible to make slightly more than an incoming hire or candidate with just the minimum.Be c areful to make sure what youââ¬â¢re calling ââ¬Å"experienceâ⬠is the kind of experience the employer has in mind. You might have five years experience managing a team of employees at a boutique company, but they might be looking for someone who oversaw multiple teams at multiple locations across a much larger company. In that case, your ââ¬Å"experienceâ⬠wouldnââ¬â¢t make for a massive salary bump. Before you go into an interview boasting what you think is an impressive history (and it very well might be!), make sure it will be impressive to yourà interviewer. In this specific case, he or she has the only opinion that matters.Your Former Stats MatterAn employer will also take into account your previous salary history, your level of education (and sometimes even the ââ¬Å"levelâ⬠of your institution). Theyââ¬â¢ll also measure your geographical location and the cost of living there, so two positions in suburban Ohio and New York City, respectively, would be compensated differently.Youââ¬â¢re Working Within a WindowUsually, most employers have a salary range in mind. Where you fall on that predetermined range will be decided based on all these factors we just mentioned. So ââ¬Å"commensurate with experienceâ⬠in this case doesnââ¬â¢t mean ââ¬Å"skyââ¬â¢s the limitâ⬠if you happen to be super experienced. It might, however, mean youââ¬â¢ll make more than the slightly less experienced new hire with your same job description. Or less than the slightly more experienced one. That said, whenever you see the phrase ââ¬Å"commensurate with experience,â⬠or something like it, be prepared to negotiate, at least a little. That salary is not set in stone. You might not have much leverage, but itââ¬â¢s at least a crack in the window for you to give it a try. Make sure to do your homework about the cost of living in your area, what other people at your level seem to be making, what the range of salaries at that com pany appears to be, etc. And remember to take extra care when detailing your work history in your application- both on your resume and in your cover letter. Figure out your strengths as precisely and as powerfully as you can, knowing theyââ¬â¢ll be scrutinized when deciding where youââ¬â¢ll fall on the salary spectrum once youââ¬â¢re hired.

General Factor of Creativity Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
General Factor of Creativity - Assignment Example Biofeedback, or self-consciousness learning from and simultaneously influencing the environment, is an important structural model for my decision making and the day to day activities of awareness. I find I have to accept mistakes as a given in any undertaking but repeatedly refine and re-focus the will to attain goals that are based in the ideals and beliefs of the highest good and intended to benefit the evolution of human consciousness. (diCarlo, 2010) Activity is only one dimension of the self in my philosophy of creativity, but it is through the creative process that what is lasting and memorable will be achieved in life. Nevertheless, I feel activity should be based on an altruistic motivation to help and assist others in all manners of living, valuing what is shared in a manner equal if not more precious than what is packaged and sold. The balancing of competing interests and maintaining a consistent philosophy, free of hypocrisy, with its own interpretation and application is the key to establishing an identity in works of art or literature born out of the creative process. ... velopment, I believe the personality must come into tune or harmony with the creative spirit and become effortless self-expression in order to be successful. Personality cannot be considered determinant of creativity, for the creative spirit takes force across all personality types. An excellent review of scientific literature on the subject is available in Tomas Chamorro-Premuzicââ¬â¢s Personality and Individual Differences (2007). I find too much in technique in art is equivalent to other forms of overbearing social life and communication, and from this the importance of balance in mind and awareness is made evident. Nevertheless, across all of the moods in my personality, I believe there may be also shared patterns of behavior or thinking that can facilitate creativity by sparking new ideas, critical approaches, or methodologies. Artists and musicians, as well as scientists, generally learn synergetically through combining multiple influences and traditions into a new and uniqu e form at the highest levels of creativity. In this regard, I believe creativity can become related very closely to spirituality in personal self-expression. According to Jungian psychology, as the mind and awareness becomes conscious of more universal themes, the self-expression of the personality on all levels can be expected to change in accordance with this. (Rothgeb, 1992) In this manner, creativity and personality are essentially the same force of self-expression to me, acting across multimedia and other forms of communication or relationship. The open, balanced and conscience-aware personality that is based in altruistic generosity seems the best ideal to for me to strive for in personal relationships, but the subject matter of the subconscious and conscious struggles based on ideals and
